Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
This update on his health comes as the sports world offered sympathy for the champion in the following the devastating accident.
