Trump Calls Families of Shot National Guard Personnel to the White House

President Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the White House.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

Presidential Offer

The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump addressed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Reaction

Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in DC.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators desired. She carried herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that encouraged those around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the media. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Government Adjustments

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The incident caused the government to halt asylum processing and temporarily stop providing visas to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Morrisey mentioned on television.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on a news show that she also intended to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with honor, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she definitely had courage,” Morrisey informed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
