Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his position following another convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the club's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from management,” Slot stated.

“It's important to change things and get a victory obviously but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell of this nature with results so bad.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until it is removed, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to the top, prove again what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
