'Living a Nightmare': Loved Ones of Unaccounted For Teens Desperately Seek Answers After Alpine Fire

The loved ones of young people missing after a devastating blaze at a establishment in a Swiss ski resort are facing an excruciating period of uncertainty for official news and appealing for clues about their family members publicly.

The fire engulfed the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of New Year's Day. Circulated video reveal the roof structure catching alight as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Emergency services have indicated that it could take an extended period to formally name the victims of the tragedy, which resulted in the death of four dozen individuals and hurt another over a hundred. A spokesperson noted on the latest update that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with efforts continuing to name the remaining few.

In the interim, families and friends have been taking to the internet to plead for any news about their friends who were at the bar that evening.

Desperate Searches for the Unaccounted For

The whereabouts of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are still unconfirmed, according to an heartfelt request from his parent.

The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is deceased, without mentioning the tragedy, paying tribute to a "talented young man who represented passion and true sportsmanship."

His father, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around midnight. An official spokesperson has indicated that a formal confirmation of his death is awaited.

Other Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise among the missing. His mother explained that he had been on holiday but had gone out with friends and found himself at the venue.

"A close friend told me they ran away after the fire broke out and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he they were separated," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his teachers said, "He was known for his kindness and positive demeanor, coupled with great responsibility. He would frequently ask if help out."
