Fans eagerly awaiting the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined don't need to wait too much longer. An exciting playable preview will become available on Jan. 7, granting a substantial glimpse into the game's opening hours. Critically, all progress made within this demo will be able to be carried over directly into the complete game upon its subsequent launch.

Beyond Just a Simple Remake: A Complete Reimagining

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined represents a ground-up re-envisioning of the seminal year 2000 JRPG, first titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a distinct step away from other Dragon Quest remakes, like the previously released HD-2D versions, this version adopts a unique three-dimensional visual presentation. Locales are designed to evoke intricate miniature worlds, with protagonists sporting a delightful toy-like appearance.

"Even with the previous port, the main quest was still exceptionally extended. Consequently, the team reached a decision that we wanted to condense the story, [and] make this experience for today's players."

Significant Gameplay Changes & Modernizations

The development team has added numerous modernizations to refresh the classic experience. These include:

• Quick Field Encounters: Inspired by contemporary role-playing games, low-level foes are now defeated directly on the field without initiating a separate traditional combat screen.
• Variable Battle Speed: Players can speed up combat animations to rapidly get past easier fights.
• Expanded Job System: A completely new character role has been introduced for this reimagining. Additionally, party members now have the option to take on a second job, greatly expanding customization possibilities.

These changes are aimed at address one of the 2000 game's frequent criticisms: its immense playtime. That original adventure was known to require over 100 hours to finish. The new version has been expressly structured to improve pacing and reduce any repetition.
