Fans eagerly awaiting the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined don't need to wait too much longer. An exciting playable preview will become available on Jan. 7, granting a substantial glimpse into the game's opening hours. Critically, all progress made within this demo will be able to be carried over directly into the complete game upon its subsequent launch.
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined represents a ground-up re-envisioning of the seminal year 2000 JRPG, first titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a distinct step away from other Dragon Quest remakes, like the previously released HD-2D versions, this version adopts a unique three-dimensional visual presentation. Locales are designed to evoke intricate miniature worlds, with protagonists sporting a delightful toy-like appearance.

These changes are aimed at address one of the 2000 game's frequent criticisms: its immense playtime. That original adventure was known to require over 100 hours to finish. The new version has been expressly structured to improve pacing and reduce any repetition.
Interested players will be able to begin exploring the reimagined world of DQ7 for themselves when the free demo becomes available on Wednesday, January 7th. The complete adventure, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, is then scheduled to release on February 5, 2026. The title will be available on a broad selection of platforms, including Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox.
